As far as the Marvel Cinematic Universe is concerned, Ant-Man and the Wasp actually takes place before the tear filled events of Infinity War. But the timing of its release probably couldn't be smarter on Marvel's part. Fans just sat through one of, if not the most, devastating superhero films, and now we need a little lighthearted heroics to mend us, before next year's Avengers 4 most likely tears us apart again.
The good news is, this film is clearly sticking with the humor and ant-ics of the first, it is a Paul Rudd film, after all, but with the added benefit of a badass lady. Technically three badass ladies. What with Michelle Pfeiffer playing Janet van Dyne, Hannah John Kamen as the villain Ghost, and Evangeline Lilly reprising her role as Hope van Dyne and making her entry as the Wasp, this film is not lacking in heroines and a villainess.
Favorites from the previous film are also obviously present, with Michael Peña rattling off throughout the trailer. If anything, that's the character to be most excited about meeting the Avengers. Imagine the gab he could have with Groot, if, well, we'll leave Infinity War spoilers to our other post. Regardless, this really does look like a feel-good time. I think we deserve that.
